Benito Martinez plays “Councilman David Aceveda” on THE SHIELD. Once the Captain of the Barn, David sees the current IAD investigation with Vic and the Strike Team as his last chance to nail Vic – and his last chance for his own redemption.

This past year, Martinez enjoyed the privilege of working with the legendary actor/director Clint Eastwood in the multi-Oscar winning movie, Million Dollar Baby. Among Martinez’s other film credits are Saw starring Danny Glover and Cary Elwes; Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman; New Suit directed by Francious Valle and Mi Familia directed by Gregory Nava. The recently completed features End Game starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Kill Your Darlings with John Larroquette and Lolita Davidovich are due for release in 2006. On the small screen, notable shows include NYPD Blue, Once And Again, American Family, X-Files, Firefly and as a recurring character on the animated Mucha Lucha as “El Superstar,” the greatest wrestler in the world!

Martinez is an Albuquerque, New Mexico native, but moved to Los Angeles to attend Hollywood High Performing Arts Magnet, then continued his training at the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). In his third year, as a member of the academy’s award winning touring troupe, he performed in London, throughout Europe and Moscow, Russia. In the U.S., he has performed and worked with many theater companies including at New York’s Joseph Papp’s Public Theater, the Arizona Theater Company, Seattle’s A Contemporary Theater, Costa Mesa’s South Coast Repertory, Los Angeles’ A.S.K./Shirball Theater Projects, The Los Angels’ World Shakespeare Theater Festival. The New Ivar and most recently at the newly re-opened Ricardo Montalban Theater, formerly Hollywood’s Doolittle Theater.
